Lands of the Mesozoic

Lands of the Mesozoic is a tableau building game where card play is constantly evolving. In this prehistoric game the dinosaurs are not blood-thirsty monsters constantly fighting with each other, but animals filling vital roles in an ecosystem. Each type of animal is needed to be a balanced ecosystem and to be sustainable in the long term.  Competition between the species and the shifting nature of the environment will trigger extinction events of the animals and habitats that, in turn, will open niches for new species to appear and spread.

LET THE DESIGNER TELL YOU ABOUT THE GAME

In Lands of the Mesozoic, 1 to 4 players will create and manage their own Mesozoic ecosystems using 3 main types of cards: Land, Herbivores, and Carnivores that create different levels in the food chain.

The Land is lush and vibrant during the Mesozoic. Build dynamic habitats that will provide shelter for animals and abundant food to thrive.

Once you have created the robust environments, they will begin to attract and support a range of Herbivores. These animals will use the resources generated by those specific types of lands.

In a natural progression, the existence of Herbivores will entice Carnivores to roam the land. These animals are at the top of the food chain and control the population size of herbivore species, bringing balance to the ecosystem.

All 3 types of cards need to be in balance for the ecosystem to be sustainable in the long term.  However, competition between species and the shifting nature of the surface of the Earth, will trigger extinction events of animals and habitats that, in turn, will open niches for new species to appear and spread.

At the end of the game, players will score points for played cards, collect Victory Point Tokens, and achieve common and personal goals. The winner is the player with the most points after 3 periods of 7, 6, and 5 rounds respectively.
