It is 52 BC, and you as Julius Caesar have trapped the wily leader Vercengetorix at the stronghold of Alesia. With equal numbers your Roman legions have built a ring of earthworks and an ancient minefield of traps and pits to slow the enemy. You know you will starve him out if nothing changes…

But you know it will. You receive word of a Gallic relief force of almost 100,000 men coming to relieve their starving allies. You turn your legions back to work, this time on earthworks facing outward. You will now have to defend two rings of earthworks, almost 26 miles of line with 10 legions and cavalry. You must hold, it is your destiny…

As Vercengetorix, you and 50,000 Gallic warriors are trapped in an impregnable stronghold with women and children. You’ve sent your cavalry away to rally the countryside to come to your aid. You must hold out until help arrives and you can smash Caesar’s legions between your besieged, and the relieving force…

The day is here, and with terrifying shouts and screams of war lust the Gallic tribes emerge on the horizon over the hills, charging at the Roman lines. Hundreds fall before getting to the lines as Balaeric slingers and Numidian archers unleash arrows and stone from the Roman lines. Hundreds more fall as the legions unleash their deadly pila’s. But the horde rushes on, steadily closing the distance.

And now from within the walls of Alesia a new war shout is heard as Gallic warriors pour out from the besieged city towards the Roman lines. Now. Now the sun stands still. What will you do as Caesar? How can you, outnumbered 3 to 1, defend against this enraged horde of animal blood lust? As Vercengetorix and the relief leader, can you break the Roman lines and crush the Romans once and for all?
